Moorhen chick on shed pond spotted and is doing well. Another flush of dragonflies noted. Frequent low flying Pinkfoot geese.
6th Two hollowed out hedgehogs found on paths. Ponds have a slight increase in water level after rain.

Like all the other fruit and nut trees on the plot, the sweet chestnuts are also having a good year.

11th Single snipe on island pond. Lots of squirrel activity with acorns and hazelnuts.
13th There have been more swifts than we have seen all year, all circling around a one acre paddock for the last two days.
Fox poo spotted all around the periphery of the woods, balanced (wherever possible) on high spots like molehills.

I’d noticed a hole/entrance appear on an island in the pond some time ago but when I looked properly it appears to be a wasp nest.
I’ve been diligently making sure the camera pointing at the barn owl box has three clear days of no sightings to hopefully ensure it is empty before I climb up the ladder to clean it out. Thankfully it was empty and it definitely was ready for a clean out.

Young hare spotted just inches from my left foot in some long, dead grass. Let me have a good look but bolted as soon as I went for the camera.
